Our Story
Where Craft Meets Community
Tucked into the heart of Tomakin, Rivermouth General Store is a community café reborn—serving great coffee, bold, flavour-forward food, and a growing collection of everyday essentials. In late 2024, husband-and-wife team Brendan and Bridgette Sly returned to the coast to be closer to family, friends, and the kind of life they wanted for their son—one grounded in community, coastline, and good food.
Bridgette, a classically trained chef with a fine-dining background, built her career in one of Melbourne’s top restaurants before bringing her talent and vision to regional hospitality. She helped lead The Albion in Braidwood alongside Brendan, shaping it into one of the Southern Tablelands’ most beloved food destinations. In the café world, she’s found her stride—where the pace is more human and the joy of cooking for others can truly shine.
Brendan’s path has ranged from managing resorts and running film sets to co-running The Albion with Bridgette.
Together, they bring decades of experience and a shared passion for hospitality that’s equal parts grounded and elevated. From the bush to the sea, their journey reflects a deep appreciation for food, flavour, and a little flair.

Looking Ahead
Their vision for The Rivermouth is simple: a place where locals feel at home and visitors feel lucky to stumble in. Expect bold, balanced flavours made with quality Australian produce, a menu rooted in nourishment and joy, and an atmosphere that’s coastal, chilled, and a little bit quirky. From house-made cakes and great coffee to future take-home favourites, everything is designed to leave you feeling a little fuller—in every sense.
This is a café shaped by life experience, a deep love of food, and a commitment to keeping things real.
